Background: Hernia repair is one of the most common surgical procedures worldwide. Traditional tissue repair (non-mesh) has a high recurrence rate, while mesh repair has gained popularity due to its tension-free nature.
Aim: To compare the clinical outcomes, postoperative complications, and recurrence rates between mesh and non-mesh hernia repairs.
Materials & Methods: A prospective comparative study was conducted on 100 patients with inguinal or ventral hernias, randomly divided into mesh repair (Group A) and non-mesh repair (Group B).
Results: Mesh repair showed significantly lower recurrence rates and faster postoperative recovery, but a slightly higher incidence of seroma formation.
Conclusion: Mesh hernia repair is superior to non-mesh methods in terms of recurrence prevention and clinical outcomes.
