Background: Severe acne vulgaris often leads to scarring, psychological distress, and reduced quality of life. Isotretinoin is known for its potent therapeutic effects but requires careful monitoring due to its side effects.
Aim: To assess the efficacy, safety profile, and outcome of isotretinoin therapy in severe acne cases.
Materials & Methods: A prospective clinical study conducted on patients with severe acne. Clinical improvement, adverse effects, laboratory parameters, and relapse rate were evaluated over 6 months.
Results: Significant reduction in acne severity was observed in 85% of cases. Mild to moderate side effects were noted in 40% of patients, while relapse rate was around 12%.
Conclusion: Isotretinoin is highly effective in severe acne when appropriately monitored.
